January: The Paint it Jazz Festival
Every year this festival of Jazz brings together some of the world's best talent for a powerful weekend-long explosion of Jazz.
February: The International Festival and Fair
A festival filled with entertainment, food, art and crafts, from which the proceeds go to bettering the life of children and young people in Barbados.
March: Sandy Lane Gold Cup & Holder's Season
The Sandy Lane Gold Cup is the premier horse racing event in Barbados, sponsored by the Sandy Lane Hotel and supported by both local people and tourists alike. Barbados is also host to the Holder's Season, a festival celebrating music, theatre and arts. Holder's Season has featured both world-class international and local performers from Europe and Broadway.
April: De Malibu Congaline Festival
This vibrant festival revolves around a Congaline Village with a market place full of arts, crafts, culture and entertainment. Live music and dance reach their crescendo on the May Day holiday with a street carnival.
May: Texaco Havoline International Motor Rally
The topography and characteristic twisting roads and tracks of the island make for an exciting venue for the international motor sports teams.
June: Harris Paints Sailing Regatta
Water sports are naturally very much a part of island life. Sailing regattas give competent crews the chance to pit their skills against one another in testing sea breezes.
July: The Crop-Over Festival
Marking the end of the annual sugar cane harvest, celebrations begin around mid-July with an Opening Gala and go on well into August, closing with the Ceremonial Delivery of the Last Canes.
August: Grand Kadooment Festivities
Grand Kadooment marks the climax of the Crop-Over Festival. It's the biggest party day of the year with street carnivals gyrating to the sounds of calypso and soca music.
September: Banks Pro Long Board Classic
The eastern and southern coasts of the island give rise to substantial waves, ideal for those that wish to participate in this highly publicized surfing event.
October: Fred Rumsey Pro-Am Cricket Festival
Cricket throughout much of the Caribbean, and in particular Barbados, is enjoyed with almost fanatical enthusiasm by people from all walks of life.
November: United Insurance Barbados Golf Tournament / Barbados National Championship
An annual event held over 3 days or 54 holes, this is the leading stroke-play golfing event in the Eastern Caribbean. Sponsored by United Insurance.
December: The West Coast
The winter season offers idyllic weather on the island and many, not surprisingly, seek to spend their Christmas holidays on sun-drenched beaches.
